The Platform

A Vision for Richland County

Richland County deserves leadership that listens, acts, and delivers results.

Responsible Growth

Managing county growth thoughtfully and sustainably while respecting the character of Irmo, Dutch Fork, Ballentine, and surrounding communities. Ensuring infrastructure keeps pace with development.

Efficient Government

Delivering results and reducing waste. Ensuring taxpayer dollars are used wisely and county services run effectively — for the people, not the bureaucracy.

Transparency & Accountability

Building trust with residents through open, honest decision-making. Giving every resident a real voice in shaping the county's future.

"Richland County is growing, and we need leadership that manages that growth responsibly while protecting the communities people already call home. I'm running to ensure taxpayer dollars are used wisely, decisions are made transparently, and residents have a real voice in shaping the future of this county."
— Jim Reese
Richland County Council District 1 — Irmo, Dutch Fork, Ballentine, Chapin, SC
About Jim

A Husband, Father & Community Leader

Jim Reese is the youngest child of parents who met at Fort Jackson and chose to build their lives in the Midlands of South Carolina. Born and raised right here in Irmo, Jim has spent his entire life in this community — the same streets, the same schools, the same neighbors.

A graduate of Newberry College, Jim went on to serve as a Pastor at Forward City Church in Columbia, dedicating himself to serving people and building up the community around him.

He married his childhood sweetheart, Elisa Meetze, and together they are raising four children in the Irmo community — a testament to his deep roots and commitment to this place they call home.

Jim is a homegrown conservative leader committed to preserving the values that have long defined Richland County while managing the growth and change that comes with progress. He is building on the good work that Councilman Branham accomplished for District 1.

"Irmo, Dutch Fork, and Ballentine are home for our family, and I want to leave them better than I found them."
